From April 3rd to 6th, the 57th edition of AGRO – International Fair of Agriculture, Livestock and Food – will transform Forum Braga into a meeting point between traditional knowledge and technological innovation. With around 230 confirmed exhibitors—a record for this edition—AGRO 2025 strengthens its position as the largest agricultural fair in Northern Portugal and the Northwestern Iberian Peninsula. The event features a comprehensive program that aims to exceed 50,000 visitors.

Carlos Silva, Executive Director of InvestBraga, states that "this edition will solidify our position as a benchmark event in the agricultural field, connecting traditional knowledge with technological innovations. With the participation of exhibitors from various sectors, we expect to surpass expectations and contribute to the strengthening of the agricultural sector in the region and the country."

For four days, the fairgrounds will host livestock competitions featuring native breeds, live cooking demonstrations, scientific seminars, traditional food stalls and DOP restaurants, agricultural and industrial machinery exhibitions, as well as a variety of activities designed for industry professionals, students, and families.

This year, with a record number of around 230 exhibitors—including institutions, schools, energy, food, traditional food stalls, DOP restaurants, agri-food, nutrition, animal health, agricultural equipment, services, agricultural and industrial machinery, agrochemicals, forestry, horticulture and gardening, utilities, and commercial vehicles—"we are offering a unique platform for businesses in the agricultural and food sectors, along with a diverse agenda," says Sandra Vaz, Commercial Director of InvestBraga. "We are confident that this event will be an essential meeting point for industry professionals and families alike, while enhancing our gastronomic and cultural offerings."

The program begins with a special focus on professionals and students, including technical conferences and educational initiatives ranging from preschool children to university students. One of the highlights will be the participation of more than 5,000 children from primary schools across the municipality of Braga, reflecting a strong investment in educating future generations.

Livestock competitions will take on even greater importance in 2025, with contests for native chicken breeds, Bordaleira sheep from the Douro and Minho regions, and Churra do Minho, along with cattle breeds such as Arouquesa, Maronesa, Minhota, Cachena, and Barrosã. A standout feature of the competitions will be the debut of the 1st Inter-School Holstein Friesian Handler and Groomer Competition. In total, approximately 500 animals will be present, all from farms certified in animal welfare. José Olímpio, Chief Operating Officer of InvestBraga, adds: "AGRO is an event that reflects InvestBraga’s commitment to promoting excellence in the agricultural and food sectors. This year, we are investing in an even more robust program, with a focus on education, best practices in animal welfare, and the promotion of regional gastronomy—key pillars for the sustainable development of our agriculture."

Gastronomy remains one of the fair’s main highlights. In the DOP restaurants, visitors can taste meat from six Portuguese cattle breeds with Protected Designation of Origin: Arouquesa, Barrosã, Marinhoa, Maronesa, Minhota, and Mirandesa. In addition, traditional dishes will be served, such as Minho-style porridge, fish stew, Braga-style codfish, Barcelos-style roasted rooster, Póvoa soup, and desserts like crème brûlée, Abade de Priscos pudding, fidalguinhos, and rosemary sponge cake, with support from MARB – the Braga Region Supply Market.

AGRO is also designed with families in mind, featuring gardening workshops led by Braga’s Educational Farm, horse riding experiences, performances by university music groups and folk ensembles, and other interactive activities. The event will also celebrate Galicia Day on Friday, April 4th at 12:00 p.m., with official representation and exhibitors from the neighboring Spanish region. In total, the event will host approximately 27 live cooking demonstrations, 18 seminars, and many other activities.

Henrique Martins, Head of Fairs, Congresses, and Events at Forum Braga, emphasizes: “AGRO 2025 reflects the vitality and innovation of Forum Braga. With a high-quality program that includes everything from educational activities to agricultural technology exhibitions, we ensure that visitors will have a unique experience, both in terms of learning and in engaging with the best professionals in the field.”

Visit AGRO with Transportes Urbanos de Braga

This year, the fair once again supports sustainable mobility by promoting environmentally conscious travel to the venue. In partnership with Braga’s Urban Transport (TUB), special shuttle services will run on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, departing from Minho Center and E.leclerc. The round-trip ticket costs a symbolic €1, and by presenting it at the Forum Braga ticket offices, visitors receive a 50% discount on event entry. This initiative aims not only to facilitate access to the fair but also to reduce car traffic and carbon emissions in the surrounding areas. The organization also notes that parking near the venue will be limited, with most spaces reserved for service and logistics vehicles.

Solidarity returns to the spotlight

In partnership with the Luso-Ukrainian Association, InvestBraga will once again run the “AGRO LOVES Ukraine” solidarity campaign. This initiative aims to support the Ukrainian people in overcoming the hardships caused by the war. After the success of the previous campaign—which resulted in the delivery of a truckload of non-perishable food items to Ukraine—the effort will be renewed and will culminate during AGRO 2025. From March until the end of the event, essential items such as non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, medications, and first-aid items will be collected. Clothing donations will not be accepted.

Those who wish to donate before or after the event may do so at the UPE – Luso-Ukrainian Social and Cultural Center, located at Avenida Imaculada Conceição nº910, 4700-034 Braga.
