Expo Animal 2025

InvestBraga – Agency for Economic Promotion, in collaboration with the Portuguese Kennel Club (CPC) and the Portuguese Cat Club (CPF), is organizing the 10th edition of EXPO ANIMAL, taking place on October 4 and 5!

This event, dedicated to all companion animals, will be held in the pavilion of Forum Braga.

Across more than 7,800 m² of exhibition space, the event aims to bring together a significant number of dogs, cats, and exotic animals, as well as a wide variety of exhibitors offering products and services for dog breeding, cat breeding, and exotic pets — including pet food, hygiene, animal wellness, health care, and specialized media, among others.

In partnership with the Portuguese Kennel Club, a National Dog Show will take place on Saturday, and an International Dog Show on Sunday, with over 1,000 dogs showcased across both days.

In collaboration with the Portuguese Cat Club, a cat exhibition will also be held.
Given how easily domesticated and widespread cats are as companion animals, this exhibition — hosted in a dedicated space — will be a valuable addition to the weekend and is sure to attract the curiosity and attention of visitors.

As is widely known, exotic animals represent a rapidly growing market and a highly attractive business opportunity. Over recent years, more and more Portuguese households have welcomed exotic pets, making it impossible to ignore the popularity of species such as snakes, iguanas, tarantulas, and scorpions.

BÁRBARA ZANIERI (IT)

Born in Lucca (Italy) into a family of dog lovers and Boxer breeders, she began breeding Dobermanns at the age of 20 under the kennel name “Di Poggopiano”, having produced both Italian and international champions.

President of the Cinophile Club of Pisa, she is a criminal lawyer and a member of the Italian Association of Criminal Lawyers in Pisa and Lucca.
A Dobermann judge since 1992, she has judged at the most prestigious events (including several FCI World Dog Shows, European FCI Dog Shows, IDC and ISPU Championships), as well as many club shows and breed specialties across almost every continent.

She judges FCI Group 2 breeds such as Dobermann, Schnauzers, Pinschers, Cane Corso, Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Black Russian Terrier, Great Dane, Newfoundland, Dogue de Bordeaux, as well as Group 9 breeds (Maltese, Bolognese, French Bulldog, Boston Terrier, Chihuahua) and all FCI Group 4 breeds.

She has represented the Italian delegation several times at the FCI General Assembly and the Mediterranean and European Sections. She is currently Vice-President of the FCI Mediterranean Section.

SALVADOR JANEIRO (PT)

I was born in Alentejo, a nostalgic and beautiful region in the south of Portugal, sparsely populated, with wide open landscapes where the land stretches flat and golden wheat fields shimmer under the scorching summer sun. This is the homeland of the beloved Rafeiro do Alentejo. The breed remains very popular in the region, and my grandparents themselves owned and bred Rafeiros do Alentejo.

However, my story as a breeder began with a Dobermann! One day, I decided to bring home a Dobermann puppy. At the time, the breed was considered dangerous, and few would accept having such a dog living in a house with children.

I decided to bring the puppy home under the pretext that I had rescued it from the street — the most acceptable excuse to make the dog welcome. The next step was to get the family on board and begin breeding under the name CASA BRANCA Kennel.

As a breeder, I earned several awards with both Dobermanns and Portuguese Water Dogs. I received the Trophy for Best Iberian Breeder of Portuguese and Spanish breeds.

In 1986, when I became a judge, I stopped exhibiting dogs myself. My last Miniature Pinscher litter was in 2011, after which I ceased breeding.

I have judged in numerous countries across Europe and the world: Belgium, Belarus, Croatia, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, Poland, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, USA (multiple states), Johannesburg, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia.

My CV includes significant achievements: European Championship (Portugal); World Championship (Portugal; Finland); Winner Championship (Stockholm and Helsinki); Estonian Champion of Champions 2018; Irish Pup of the Year 2018; Irish Champion of Champions 2024; Finnish Champion of Champions 2025.

I am the author of several opinion and research articles related to the canine world and I am fluent in Spanish, French and English.

Since 2009, I have served as the Technical Director of the Braga dog shows.

HANNA WOŹNA-GIL (PL)

I started my journey with purebred dogs and dog shows in 1996, when the first female Irish Wolfhound joined my household.

Over the years, I imported several more Wolfhounds and Deerhounds. I have been successfully breeding these two breeds under the kennel name "Festina" for almost 25 years, achieving national and international champion titles, club champion titles, specialty show wins, breed congress titles, European and World Sighthound Cup titles, as well as European Winner awards.

One of the most memorable moments of my career was winning the World Winner title with my Chart Polski in Poznań in 2006, where a record-breaking number of more than 80 dogs were entered in the breed.

Today, I share my life with Wolfhounds and Whippets, whose character and playfulness fascinate me more and more.

I have been a judge since 2008 and I am authorized to judge all breeds in FCI Groups IV, V, VIII and X, non-recognized breeds, and international-level junior handling competitions.

I am currently working towards my qualifications to judge Group VII breeds. So far, I have judged at many prestigious dog shows in Poland and abroad.

Recently, I have also been involved in sighthound racing, where I am a licensed judge.

RITA COLM (IE)

Rita Colm is an Irish second-generation exhibitor and breeder.

Her first breed was the Cocker Spaniel, but most of her life has been dedicated to Yorkshire Terriers and Bichon Frisé, with a strong presence in shows and championships.

She is also involved in the breeding of American Cocker Spaniels and Lhasa Apsos through her husband Colm.

SVANTE FRISK (SE)

Throughout his life, he has been involved with dogs, primarily as a breeder and exhibitor.

Passionate about the dog world, he loves sharing that enthusiasm with others.

He began breeding in 1985 under the kennel name Touchstone.

For many years, he was one of the leading breeders of Parson Russell Terriers and also bred Fox Terriers, Lakeland Terriers, Welsh Terriers, and Jack Russell Terriers.

He has attended numerous dog shows across Scandinavia and is a proud recipient of the Swedish Terrier Club’s Breeder Medal.

Previously, he ran a grooming salon in downtown Stockholm. He now works in the events/exhibitions department of the Swedish Kennel Club.

He is an international all-breed judge and has judged across Europe, including the UK, as well as in Russia, the USA, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Japan, and South Africa. He has judged at two World Dog Shows in Europe.

Over the past 10 years, he has been one of the instructors in the Swedish Kennel Club’s judge training program.

Together with Björn Magnusson, he runs Kronblommas Kennel, breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs. They have enjoyed years of success, exporting dogs for breeding to Australia, the USA, and various European countries.

They have long been considered among the top breeders and have produced 35 Bernese Mountain Dog champions and 70 additional champions from their kennel.

TIAGO RAFAEL (PT)

TOMAS ROHLIN (DK)

He presented his first Collie at the grand Stockholm show under the legendary judge Margret Osborne at the age of 8 or 9. He received a blue ribbon (Very Good).

His first Collie litter was born when he was just 2 years old.

He founded Steadlyn Collies in the early 1980s. Under the Rollington prefix, he worked internationally as a breeder in the USA, Brazil, and Japan.

In the 1990s, he moved to Brazil and bred champions across Europe, North and South America.

He has also been involved in breeding other breeds, such as Cocker Spaniels, Tibetan Spaniels, Beagles, Drevers, Shetland Sheepdogs, and Great Danes.

VITALIY BELSKYY (UA)

He began his journey in the canine world as a handler.

He completed a certified cynology course and is a professional veterinarian.

For over 10 years, he led a regional branch of the Kennel Union of Ukraine (KSU). Dogs bred by him have become European and World Champions, as well as winners of prestigious breed specialty shows.

In 2002, he won Best in Show Puppy at the World Dog Show in Amsterdam with a Pekingese.

He has judged in numerous countries, including Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, France, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since 2010, he has been a licensed judge at CAC and CACIB level dog shows.

He currently organizes Junior Handler masterclasses in various countries and judged the final of the Junior Handler competition at the European Championship in Ukraine.

He now leads the regional branch of the Kennel Union of Ukraine and is President of the All-Ukrainian Sennenhund Breeds Club.
