The people of Braga raised 20,100 euros for the Novais e Sousa Center
The funds raised through the Solidarity New Year’s Eve Celebration, an initiative organized by InvestBraga and the Municipality of Braga, were delivered this Tuesday at Forum Braga. The event, which attracted residents of Braga to welcome the New Year, resulted in a contribution of €20,100 to the Novais e Sousa Center, a leading institution in supporting the local community.
During the ceremony, held at Forum Braga, Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga, emphasized the charitable nature of the event and expressed gratitude for the widespread participation of Braga's residents. “A special thanks to all the residents who chose to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Forum Braga, contributing to this important cause. This amount reflects the generosity and solidarity spirit of our community,” he highlighted.
The ceremony was also attended by Carlos Silva, Administrator of InvestBraga, José Olímpio, Operational Director, Sandra Vaz, Commercial Director, and Judite Oliveira, Financial Director. Carlos Silva highlighted the dedication of the teams involved in organizing the event: “This is an example of how celebration and solidarity can go hand in hand, and we are proud to witness the success of this initiative.” Lucinda Vilaverde, Director of the Novais e Sousa Center, accompanied by members of the Folk Group from the Novais e Sousa Center, added a touch of celebration and entertainment to the delivery of the funds.
About the Novais e Sousa Center
The Novais e Sousa Center, a branch of the Braga Nursery Association, is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) located in Braga. It operates as a Center for Activities and Inclusion Training (CACI), supporting more than 60 adults with mental disabilities. The institution provides occupational activities, sociocultural therapies, and personal and social development programs. Since 2012, the association has been working to build a Residential Home for its users, aiming to provide a safe and suitable environment for their needs. This project, valued at around two million euros, includes the renovation of the current facilities to house both the CACI and the future Residential Home, which will have a capacity for 30 residents.
